Installing Mark's Rack and Paul cantilever brakes

For the second time I found myself knocking my head into the wall, trying to get a Nitto Mark's Rack ( designed and sold by Rivendell ) installed with my Paul Neo Retro front brakes.

Not so good.

The problem I had, is that the included straddle cable isn't long enough to get the straddle above the piece of rack that bolts to the fork.

Less than smooth.

The simple and effective solution, is to cut another brake cable and use it for the straddle. Then you can position the straddle above the rack easily, and set the brake using the length of the straddle cable. Headache gone!
